 History of ALABAT

The Latin American Association of Tissue Banks was founded in Sao Pablo, Brazil, on October 1, 2000.

​

The objective of this association is to bring together all people and institutions related or interested in the field of preservation of human cells and tissues for transplantation purposes. The main activities strengthen the development of tissue banks in the region, support the  training of professionals, establishing relationships with other scientific associations in the world, creating, together with the competent authorities, a network of skin banks to deal with eventual catastrophes with a large number of burns.
